Satisfaction matters
Attrition exceeded 20% among employees with the lowest job-satisfaction score, compared with approximately 11% at higher satisfaction levels.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE • PORTFOLIO PROJECT
An end-to-end workforce analytics solution designed to identify employee attrition patterns and uncover the factors associated with retention risk.
01 — THE PROBLEM
The project models a simulated global technology company experiencing employee departures across technical and sales operations.
The objective was to move beyond simple employee counts and create an analytical system capable of identifying where attrition risk was concentrated and which workforce characteristics were associated with employee turnover.
02 — THE APPROACH
Structured the workforce dataset using a relational MySQL star schema.
Connected fact and dimension structures to support scalable reporting.
Developed explicit DAX measures for headcount and attrition analysis.
Built an interactive Power BI workspace for executive analysis.
03 — KEY INSIGHTS
Attrition exceeded 20% among employees with the lowest job-satisfaction score, compared with approximately 11% at higher satisfaction levels.
Comparing raw departure counts alone can obscure the underlying attrition rate. Percentage-based analysis exposed the stronger relationship between satisfaction and turnover risk.
Departing employees averaged approximately KSh 4,700 in monthly income compared with KSh 6,800 among retained employees.
